UK Music Video Awards Kicks Off on 12 October

The countdown has begun for the 2010 UK Music Video Awards, which is scheduled to take place at the Odeon West End cinema, Leicester Square, London, on 12 October.
The Awards ceremony, now in its third year, aims to acknowledge the best in music videos by UK-based filmmakers. According to the event's website (www.ukmva.com), the awards aim to "celebrate creativity, technical excellence and innovation".
There are 17 categories to be considered. They include Best Pop Video; Best Rock Video; Best Cinematography in a Video; Best Telecine in a Video; Best Music Ad - TV or Online; and the Innovation Award.
Last year's winners included Flowers & Football Tops for Scottish alternative rock act Glasvegas for Best Cinematography; the director is Martin de Thurah, and cinematographer is Lasse Frank. The Innovation Award went to Dig Out Your Soul with rock band Oasis, which is directed by the Malloys.
