SHORT FILM 'SICK'
RELEASED WITH FILM FOUR FEATURE
The acclaimed mental health drama 'SICK', by
debut filmmaker MIKE RYMER, is to be released on DVD together with
a Film Four feature. The pairing is made in a series called the
Forgotten Classics Collection. Monday 7th February 2011 is the
launch date for Paper Mask (1990). Available for the first time on
DVD, it stars Paul McGann, Amanda Donohoe and Tom Wilkinson, and
will be enhanced by the inclusion of 'SICK' as a DVD extra.
The Forgotten Classics Collection is the brainchild of DVD label
Guerilla Films (www.guerilla-films.com), and sees the
release of six little known Film Four titles over six months. The
pairing of these forgotten classics with short stories from new
voices owes to Dazzle Short Film Label (www.dazzlefilms.co.uk). This marks
the second DVD release for 'SICK' which is also selling to
educational markets through the British Film Institute's Filmstore
(http://filmstore.bfi.org.uk/acatalog/info_14779.html).
Mike Rymer (Writer/Director of 'SICK')
said:
"I'm delighted that Guerilla Films have decided to include 'SICK'
in the release of Paper Mask, which is hotly anticipated on DVD.
This opens up a new audience for the film and I am excited to see
my work in large retailers like HMV and for rental on Love Film. My
thanks go out to Dawn Sharpless at Dazzle Films for making this
happen."
Note to Editors:
'SICK' is a 15 minute independent drama and a co-production by
EgoProject Films and Patchwork Productions. World Sales are by
Dazzle Films. It was produced by Christine Hartland and directed by
Mike Rymer from a script that he developed while at Newport Film
School. It examines attitudes towards mental ill health through the
relationship between a father and daughter, and won a host of
awards during a two year festival campaign, including being
represented by the British High Commission when receiving Malta's
prestigious Golden Knight.
