Gary Douglas - Co-Producer, Co-Writer, Co-Financier and Lead Actor of Gun Of The Black Sun

Gary Douglas has shot a winner with the movie Gun Of The Black Sun.

The €1 million 90-minute fantasy adventure, which he co-financed, co-wrote, co-produced and plays the lead character in, ticks several boxes.

The Film
The thriller centres on a ruthless megalomaniac's ambition to use crime, violence, neo-Nazism, plus the abuse of music and digital technology to resurrect and rule an Aryan race. It has furious car chases and fast motorbikes - and a Luger pistol linked to the Third Reich.

Its plot conveys the menacing conspiracy that made The Da Vinci Code a box-office hit.

"I put nearly everything I had into this," Douglas says. "This is no B-grade movie. We've gone for the highest standards at all levels."

It is released exclusively on DVD on 1 August 2011.

The Cast
Douglas plays the protagonist, Axel O'Rourke, a Harley-Davidson biker who unwittingly gets caught in the conspiracy.

Co-starring Hollywood veteran Richard Lynch, famous ex-England soccer player   Ian Wright, and featuring glamorous international locations. Directed by Jeff Burr who was behind some of the most inventive horror movies from the last twenty years. His career began with his first fright feature in 1987 the superbly creepy and disturbing horror anthology winner The Offspring.  Later including horror favourites such as Stepfather II, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Puppet Master 4 and 5, and Pumpkinhead II.

Gary Douglas' Background
A film fanatic who grew up in Northern Ireland in the 1960s, Douglas was influenced by old black-and-white movies on TV, films watched at his great grandfather's cinema theatre in Coleraine, Ireland, and a grandmother who played the piano to accompany the silent movies.

The son of an Irish father and Australian mother, Douglas' own adventurous background includes several acting roles in Australian TV, movies, and commercials in the 1980s. His successful modelling career includes being a former Playgirl pin-up.

But it was his obsession with the iconic Harley-Davidson motorcycles and commitment to the biker community that enabled him to fulfil his filmmaking dreams.

Through the bikers, he met Wright and entrepreneur Andrew Stear, Gun Of The Black Sun's co-producer/executive producer. He also came across the then unknown Jamie Cullum, now the UK's most famous jazz vocalist and keyboard player, who is seen playing with his old band Taxi in the film.
