Gun Of The Black Sun -The Harley-Davidson And DVD Distribution Strategy

Gun Of The Black Sun, the movie co-produced by its creator and lead actor Gary Douglas, is released exclusively on DVD on 1 August 2011.

And for Douglas, one way of shifting the movie's DVDs is to literally go on the road with it.

Douglas, who plays a Harley-Davidson biker caught up in a neo-Nazi conspiracy in Eastern Europe, is a motorcycle fanatic and a devoted member of the real-life international Harley-Davidson communities.

The friendship made among the Harley-Davidson fraternity worldwide has helped him secure a rather imaginative support from marketers of Harley-Davidson brands and products, not to mention the backing of the company itself by supplying clothes and motorcycles for Ian and Gary.

Next year, more than 300,000 bikers will gather at their annual rallies in several European cities to celebrate road life on Harley-Davidsons, famous in Hollywood movies like Easy Rider in 1969 and Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man in 1991.

Gun Of The Black Sun will be promoted at these bikers' conventions and in their official publication HOG (Harley Owners Group) magazine distributed in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Douglas and his team will attend these events to sell the DVDs, hosted in diverse locations from Croatia to St Tropez.

Moreover, WARRS, Europe's oldest Harley-Davidson dealership, has agreed to be one of the major stockists of the film,Gun Of The Black Sun.

More Distribution For The DVD

The Harley-Davidson connection will be complemented by sales on www.gunoftheblacksun.com, Douglas' company website; at the physical and online store of London-based Ace Café, one of Britain's most popular bikers' haunt; and at Silvermans, the UK's official leading supplier of military kit and motorcycle gear.

This will be followed by a marketing campaign involving the first ever Transylvania Classic Car Rally in Romania (where several of the film's scenes are set) in September. Each entry will have the movie's poster on the side of the car and a copy of the DVD.
