I was born in Holland and fortunate to travel the world since an early age. I lived in Paris, New York and Amsterdam.
Presently living in Haarlem in the Netherlands, with Elissaveta and our two boys Dimitri & Alexander.
Close to the sea & forest, yet close to Amsterdam, I find the balance between the creative inspiration of both city and nature.
I took my first pictures in my high school years. At that time my main inspiration were my dog and model airplanes.
The scientist in me got first priority. I studied and graduated as hydro-geologist. Later I changed course and got inspired to become a photographer myself after having assisted the likes as Steven Klein and Bruce Weber, while living in New York.
My photographic style can be described as cinematographic, where the connection between the subject and the viewer is of paramount importance. Recently the art of photography is changing in the art of image making in a broader sense: photography and movie making.
