Ate de Jong was born in 1953, and studied at the Filmacademy in Amsterdam from 1970 to 1974. Between 1976 and 1986 Ate directed six movies in Holland, such as A Flight of Rainbirds and Shadow of Victory. Jeroen Krabbé was starring in these two latter movies.
In 1986 Ate moved to Hollywood, where he directed an episode of
Miami Vice and two movies:
Highway to Hell and Drop Dead
Fred. Since eight years, Ate lives in London. He
directed the European co- production All Men Are
Mortal, based on the novel by Simone de
Beauvoir.
He produced Left Luggage and
The Discovery of Heaven, and he also
produced and directed Fogbound. Since
February 2005, Ate de Jong is sole owner and director of Mulholland
Pictures BV.
